Kalms Review

If you have sat any exam, or had any kind of period of stress, in the last 10 years, you will no doubt have been told about Kalms. Kalms are little white capsules/ pills which are said to aid you with stress, anxiety or sleeplessness. They are insanely well known and you can buy them from just about every health food shop or supermarket – including Holland and Barrett (who also sell CBD oil for the same reasons).

Our blog is all about CBD, so we quite often write about things like sleeplessness, anxiety and stress as these are all the number one reason why people search out CBD. As a number of members of our team have suffered from anxiety and who have used Kalm, we felt like we should take a break from reviewing CBD and do a review of calms.

What are Kalms?

Kalms are a well known herbal tablet which are used to chill you out. There is a range of different types of Kalms including Day, Night and Lavinder oil capsules. From what it seems, the difference between the variations are the active ingredients – for instance, all of the capsules seem to contain Valerian Root – the day contains hops too (like hops from beer). The lavender oil is exactly what you expect.

The ingredients are well known natural alternatives for relieving stress, anxiety and nervousness – and valerian root is particularly well known for aiding those who suffer from sleep. The full ingredients list for the day caps are as follows.

• 33.75mg of extract (as dry extract) from Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis L.) (equivalent to 135 to 167mg of Valerian root) Extraction solvent: Ethanol 60%v/v The other ingredients are: • Extract: Maltodextrin, Colloidal Anhydrous Silica. • Core: Hops Extract, Acacia (Spray-dried), Icing Sugar, Magnesium Stearate, Maize Starch, Colloidal Anhydrous Silica, Sodium Starch Glycolate, Stearic Acid. • Coating: Acacia (Spray-dried), Calcium Carbonate (Light), Carnauba Wax, Mastercote White SP0950

It seems that you can pick up a box of 200 capsules for £8 on the Holland & Barrett website, so they are good value.

Our Thoughts

We are in a unique position where a number of our team have tried Kalms, and used them for years in some cases. From exam stress at school/ university to general life, there is a range of reasons why our team used calm.. and most of them have a very similar experience.

The first thing we noticed is that we woke up feeling much more refreshed. One of our team suffers from grinding their teeth at night which means waking in the morning with an aching jaw from a night of clenching- this seems to slowly fade after a week or so. As for the general feeling of wellbeing, all of us felt an up-tick and were a lot more upbeat.

In saying this – not one of us felt a difference during the day and didn’t get the wow factor that we have become accustomed to with CBD. A lot of the time, when taking CBD you can feel an instant sense of calm which Kalms do not provide. In honesty, a combination of the two would work amazingly well. For sure you would get the best of both worlds.

Kalms are very cost-effective and are very easy to take- unlike medications, (and sometimes even CBD) there is little chance of feeling drowsy and the benefits are slow but certainly there.

What others Say

There are plenty of reviews for Kalms on a wide range of platforms. Although there is no Trustpilot profile, the reviews can be found on the Holland & Barrett website, Amazon and boots. If you are to skim through them, most of the reviews are largely positive (69% 5 star on Amazon), however, there are also a very large number of average or bad reviews. It seems that although some people really see the benefits, others feel as though the Kalms do not help them at all. Some saying they are fake or placebo.

Let’s be honest – you can’t expect a natural remedy to hit like a diazepam or sleep tablet so it may be a case of customers needing to readjust their expectations. In saying that, the jury is out as to whether they are 100% effective all of the time.

Conclusion to our Kalms Review

As a roundabout way to conclude our Kalms review – compared to CBD, Kalms are not that sexy or exciting. They certainly do the job, and contain ingredients that we know work. We certainly felt the benefits but we all agree that it may be better if they are taken with a range of other supplements to ensure you get the best out of them!
