More about the Runtz Strain

While Runtz has been declared the Leafly strain of the year for 2020, it seems that there is currently not a lot known about the strains cannabinoid make-up. There are apparently a huge number of phenotypes which has affected the data that has been collected.

It is a currently rare sativa dominant hybrid strain which is a cross between to fabulous strains: Zkittlez and Gelato. It takes its name from the sweet candy flavours and the spectrum of colours which can be hiding on the cured buds.

Runtz hails from the warm shores of LA and has the same classic Californian sweetness.

Lets cover the most important information first: the flavours of Runtz is clearly what has made this strain stand out for so many. You should expect the sweet scent of candy, citrus fruits and some woody pine for contrast. While there is a deep undercurrent of woody pine, the sweet tropical fruit is the dominant flavour which lingers long after the smoke has gone.

Interestingly, the CBD and THC content can change drastically from grow to grow, and so can the terpene content. It means that although the Runtz is considered a sativa hybrid, there are some phetotypes which lean into indica territory.

To look at, the olive buds shine with flecks of purple, blues, bright oranges and greens. The buds are dense yet long. It is hard to be sure what structure they take. It seems as though Runtz is so popular that it is sold out in LA and very little information is known about the illusive strain.

For those who have tried the Runtz strain, they say that they effects are euphoric and relaxing: ideal for relaxing with a funny movie of playing loud music. We’d say the strain sounds like it is ideal for a Saturday night in. While the strain is Euphoric, you will likely be too relaxed to leave.
