Dispenseroo: What is it and is it Legit?

We imagine we came across Dispenseroo like everybody else. The murmurings of a new weed brand in the UK which styled itself on "Deliveroo" pricked a few ears in the cannabis space. It is already quite a well-known thing in the USA, but after a bunch of adverts showed up in London it seemed as though the brand has crossed the shores.

The brand has very cleverly styled itself around the delivery service, Deliveroo, in a koy play. A confidential informant to VICE let out that the founder, called S, is a 20-odd-year-old Londoner with a background in marketing and logistics. The idea was to launch their weed brand as an underground enterprise with the biggest bang possible.

The adverts in London were unauthorised and a stroke of genius guerilla marketing. As you'd expect, people started to talk. There is a website and a telegram group which was used to take orders and update customers on the delivery of their items. It seems as though the brand used DPD as a courier and went under the cover of darkness to create a slick, professional and seemingly high-quality cannabis brand.

Is Dispenseroo a Scam or Legit?

According to Reddit, Dispenseroo is not a scam and had simply been overwhelmed with orders. The Reddit thread has users who used the Dispenseroo services and commented on the high quality of the products they received, but the patchy service and delivery schedule. Unfortunately, many encountered the same issues.

It is not surprising with such an explosive response to marketing online.

In our experience, any kind of success in the underground community never lasts too long. It is quickly rooted out and shut down by authorities. Operations that "Cash and Dash" is a major issue within the underground cannabis market, and it leaves customers vulnerable to scams, fraud and theft.

We suspect that the party for Dispenseroo may be over, but it is a huge indication that the popularity of cannabis, and willingness to purchase the plant, has only become stronger.

Twitter has been alight with commentary regarding the advertising.

Surely, this is yet just another sign that the UK government are completely out of touch with cannabis consumption in the UK and is ignoring the danger they are posing to users.

Whether Dispenseroo will survive or falter is up to the stars but may their existence reinitiate that cannabis legalisation is the only way forward to protect and service the people of the UK.
