Boots CBD oil (also referred to as cannabis oil) is something we are a little wary of.
CBD hit the high-street shelves starting with Holland and Barrett’s launch of their Jacob Hooy CBD oil products. Despite the fact that CBD oil was available, and had been growing in popularity, the launch pushed CBD into the mainstream. Since then the CBD market has done nothing but explode. The CBD and cannabis oils are everywhere, and all of the big health chains have got themselves a slice of the pie. Boots cannabis / CBD oil is part of that movement.
You can now get CBD gummies, sprays, CBD Creams and oils from boots (which you can get on amazon too)

In Summary
Although Boots are a huge trusted retailer, it is clear that big pharmacies such as this are still not the best place to grab effective and value CBD. It is much better to head to a trusted specialist.
If you look at the strengths of oils and other CBD products that Boots offer (such as Vitality CBD), they’re not really comparable to what else is on the market. For example, Boots sell the Dragonfly 10% CBD oil (with 1000mg of CBD) for £70 which is ridiculous! Compare that to CBDiablo 10%/1000mg CBD oil which is of above average quality, and that is £56.
There seems to be a huge gulf between the overpriced CBD from boots, and those of smaller companies who sometimes offer better quality! We know personally, they are pretty damn good CBD oils (even for dogs & Pets)!!
With CBD having so many health and wellbeing benefits, and with the rising concern that most of the oils on the market are fake (or mis-sold), it makes sense that people go to the trusted and well known brands for their daily Cannabinoid dose. But we would always advise basing your decisions on the products themselves rather than the brands behind the products.
Who Are Boots the Chemist?
For anybody living in the UK you will know who Boots are. If you don’t, we would be surprised. They’re a high street chemist chain who sell anything from sandwiches, to cough medicine and photographs. These days, Boots are huge! My memories of boots include getting family photos published when it used to be the old film cameras.
Cannabis / CBD Oil From Boots (Dragonfly)
Before writing this, I was sure that Boots had their own brand of Cannabidiol but I was proven wrong with a quick Google search. They actually sell a range of other brands who offer hemp oil drops, balms and flavoured products. To be honest, nothing here stands out to us as special.
The most obvious products are the red Dragonfly CBD oils which come in a range of strengths -300mg, 500mg (both good for beginners) & 1000mg. No1, nobody here has ever heard of Dragonfly CBD and No2, these oils are massively overpriced. For a 500mg CBD oil from Boots, you are looking at £40 and a 1000mg CBD oil, it will cost you £70. If you compare this with a smaller company (who really should be more expensive) you are looking at roughly £30 for a 5% & £50 for a 10%. The price of the cannabidiol from Boots is a little bit of a joke and not exactly economical if you buy CBD products every month as we do.
A lot of the companies that Boots seem to stock are the kind that have huge marketing budgets and bumble around the hemp expos with massive stands and a flock of vultures (I mean salespeople). They are just the crowd that hang about the executives of companies such as Boots and sell their very average, overpriced products with an extraordinary mark-up. These are very corporate machines who are geared up and ready to pump out thousands of units at any given moment.
To be honest, I really don’t think this follows the ethos of the hemp industry. In almost every industry, we as consumers are looking to get away from the corporate mass-produced and look to the small-batch, artisan products and industries who put love into what they do and have exceptional customer service. I do think rather than blowing money on a CBD oil Boots half-arsed, you will be best getting your CBD oil from a local or small company in the UK that matches your values.
What do Reddit users think of the CBD Gummies & CBD Oil From Boots?
Like us, many of the users over on Reddit had an issue with 2 aspects of the Dragonfly CBD oil sold by Boots – the strength and the price. The user in the above image suggests that the oils are much more expensive than you would find from other CBD companies.
This is another interesting story from a Reddit user about their experience with the Boots CBD oil. They suggest that because the oil is only isolate/broad spectrum, it will not provide the same benefits as a full spectrum CBD oil.
The Conclusion to our Boots CBD Review
Short and sweet. How most things should be. As a conclusion to our boots CBD oil review, it is abundantly clean that high street brands are selling average/ substandard CBD products with a magnificent markup to cover their increasing overheads. As a consumer, don’t be fooled by the ‘trusted brand’ – but do some research and find out what the CBD fans, and experts are buying. Boots CBD oil isn’t worth it.
