Best CBD Cannabis Strains

In the UK, there is a little bit of a problem when it comes to CBD cannabis strains. ‘CBD Flower’ or Hemp Flowers have existed in a little bit of a grey area in the law and are fairly hard to find.

While there are many shops selling the high CBD cannabis buds online, it is hard to say whether they are actually what they say they are or if they are of good quality before purchasing them.

We feel that you should avoid spending your money on a potentially branchy ‘hemp flower’ with a dubious flavour like ‘Raspberry cheesecake’. We would suggest that you look into some tried and tested CBD cannabis strains to ensure that you know exactly what you are expecting.

This post is for the eager beavers who are here to learn, we have decided to put together a post to draw out the best CBD cannabis strains that can be found across the UK.

If you love to smoke, but don’t always want to get high: check out our list of the best CBD pre-rolls we found in the UK!

Please note that cannabis is illegal in the UK – this is an informational post only.

Strain | 50% Hybrid

Cannabinoids | 17% CBD | THC (6%)

Terpenes | Myrcene, Pinene, Limonene, Caryophyllene and Linool.

Cannatonic is our favourite CBD strain at the moment, and that is down to its flavour compared to other CBD strains.

The Cannatonic strain will certainly not send you catatonic. It is considered a ‘mild-mannered’ strain that is perfect to unwind with. While this is a high CBD cannabis strain, it does also contain a low but healthy dose of THC. The flavours you should expect are herbal, piney and peppery – there is a subtle earthiness with a sweet and citrus high note.

The cannatonic strain is another firm favourite in the medical cannabis community and is certainly one of the best CBD cannabis strain that is talked about across the UK.

Strain | 75% Sativa

Cannabinoids | 15% CBD | THC (10%)

Terpenes | Myrcene, Pinene, Limonene, Caryophyllene and Linool.

Harlequin is by far one of the most popular high CBD cannabis strains that can be found in the UK.

During the initial boom of cannabis flowers in vape shops and head-shops, Harlequin is among the most popular. It is a naturally high CBD strain that ensures that you can enjoy a very nice clear-headed euphoria, without any sedation or intoxication.

The tasting notes are herbal, piney and peppery with a little sweetness. This strain is perfect for chilling out in the great outdoors with a warm cup of coffee. All the best parts of cannabis without the foggy intoxication.

Stephen Hawkings Kush

Strain | 75% Sativa

Cannabinoids | 14% CBD | THC (12%)

Terpenes | Beta-Myrcene, Pinene, Limonene, Beta- Caryophyllene, Alpha-Humulene and Linool.

Stephen Hawkings Kush

The Stephen Hawkings Kush has been named after the late, great physicist and is the second edition of the ‘great minds’ series by Alphakronik Genes. It is a cross between HarleTsu and Sin City Kush (we had not heard of them either).

The strain is known to have ‘cherry and berry’ flavours which make this a sweet strain perfect for dessert. The Steven Hawkings Kush offers a heady and soothing high which leaves room for some clear-headed activity during the day. Nothing too sedative. This is a fantastic CBD cannabis strain for just about anybody!

Sour Tsunami

Strain | 60% Sativa

Cannabinoids | 13% CBD | THC (10%)

Terpenes | Myrcene, Pinene, Limonene, Beta- Caryophyllene, Alpha-Humulene and Linool.

Something sour to wash away your worries. A Cross between two sour giants ( Sour Diesel and NYC Diesel) the Sour Tsunami is a heavily dominant CBD strain which is highly regarded in the medical cannabis community.

It has been found to help with the symptoms of pain and anxiety, without the heady high from THC. Typically this strain contains between 1-2% THC which makes it very pleasing for those who wish to enjoy some relief, but not have the high.

Strain | 50% Hybrid

Cannabinoids | 20% CBD | THC (6%)

Terpenes | Myrcene, α-Pinene, β-Pinene, β-Caryophyllene, Limonene, Eucalyptol, Valencene, α-Humulene and Camphene.

With its name the same as a famous rock band, you may expect that this strain comes with a bang- but you would be wrong.

The ACDC strain has a very high level of CBD compared to THC (20:1) and is a favoured strain for those who use cannabis for medical purposes. It has just the right balance to help with a huge range of medical issues without the extreme sedation of high THC strains.

The tasting notes are herbal, piney and peppery, much like the Harlequin strain. Down to the very high CBD content, this strain will not get you high – it will simply be relaxing and flavourful.

If you need so relief and you’ve to go stuff to do during the day, then the ACDC may be one for you.

Strain | 70% Sativa

Cannabinoids | 15% CBD | THC (15%)

Terpenes | Alpha-Pinene, Caryophyllene, Linalool, Myrcene, Limonene.

If you have absolutely no idea where this name comes from then we suggest you get yourself on Google (maybe not after a joint). Pennywise is the terrifying clown from the Stephen King novel ‘It’ which has been made into countless film and TV adaptations.

The strain gets its name from being a cross between Harlequin & Jack the Ripper (very clever) and combines the clear-headedness of Jack and contain enough CBD to smooth out the ride.

The strain has a 1:1 ratio of CBD & THC, so the full-spectrum effects are something to behold. You can expect a spicy hashy flavour with woody indertones, and a piney under-layer. While it isn’t the most moreish flavour, it has its own charm. Expect a coughing fit as the thick sour exhale kicks in.

Much like the classic OG Kush.
